Mission Statement

The mission of the Sophomore & Second Year Center (SSYC) is to retain sophomore and second year students at the University of Central Florida by providing academic advising and support services to targeted populations, developing programs that guide students towards declaration of a major and eventual graduation from UCF, and connecting students to appropriate campus resources and services.  SSYC facilitates student learning through providing programs and services that will aid in the student’s decision-making process. Targeted populations include undeclared sophomore and undeclared second year freshmen students, first-time-in-college students entering UCF with 45 or more college credits earned, and enrolled students seeking to change their major.
