Mission Statement
The mission of the Sophomore & Second Year Center is to retain sophomore and second year students at the University of Central Florida by providing academic advising and support services to targeted populations, developing programs that guide students towards declaration of a major and eventual graduation from UCF, and connecting students to appropriate campus resources and services. Targeted populations include undeclared sophomore and undeclared second year freshmen students, first-time-in-college students entering UCF with 45 or more college credits earned, and enrolled students seeking to change their major.
Vision Statement
The vision of the Sophomore & Second Year Center is to become a state and national leader in providing innovative, proactive, and collaborative major exploration and support services for sophomore and second year students at UCF.

Goals
- Provide innovative advising programs, information technology access, and services to undeclared sophomore and undeclared second year freshmen students to increase major declaration in a timely manner.
- Develop proactive interventions and academic advising services to enhance the connection with targeted sophomore and second year student populations.
- Promote an efficient and effective transition program that facilitates a seamless connection for targeted sophomore students to the appropriate college advising support office.
- Offer a variety of student support services and interactions that assist sophomore and second year students in their progression toward eventual graduation from UCF.
- Connect targeted student populations to career planning and career development information as provided through a Career Services staff member assigned to SSYC.
- Collaborate with key campus partners to serve on a Task Force in developing and promoting university-wide services to enhance the UCF experience, engagement, and retention of sophomore and second year students.
